Introduction to TESOL provides an overview of second language acquisition theory and current English language teaching strategies used in adult ESL education. Prerequisites: At least 18 years of age and proof of English proficiency level via one of the following: A US college diploma including successful completion of ENG 111, The Virginia Placement Test (VPT) for native English speakers, or the Accuplacer Test for non-native English speakers.  For prerequisite details, please see the TESOL website at You must attend 90% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor, in order to pass the class and be awarded CEUs.
