Change is to be expected in today's business environment, but needs a clear process to approve or reject requests for change. Unmanaged change can bring chaos. Likewise, a project must identify and address risks (unknowns), or be forced into a reactionary mode. Understanding how to handle changes and risks, and how they are related, is both an art and a science. A good project manager must have the tools necessary to identify, quantify, measure, and report on all aspects of a project, including these unknowns. This course embraces not only the technical aspects of risk and change, but also the human factors. Technical topics include risk identification and assessment, risk response development and control, configuration management, and change control, including change verification and baseline control. People-factor topics include acknowledging change, understanding how people find change stressful, timely updating of policies and procedures to reflect change, and ensuring communication throughout the project. You must attend 90% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor, in order to pass the class and be awarded CEUs and a Certificate of Completion. For those who already have earned a PMP, this course can be used to earn 14 PDUs for PMP recertification.
