Re-Employing Virginians (REV): The Re-Employing Virginians (REV) initiative helps students cover the cost of tuition and fees in fields that will lead to careers. FastForward Eligible Program: To qualify for financial assistance for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. Admission Requirements:
  • Students must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Students must have a high level of English reading and comprehension.
  • Students must complete the Healthcare Orientation (coming soon) at least 5 days before the first day of class. Failure to do so will result in a drop and refund.
Program Description:
  • This comprehensive and fast-paced entry-level program is intended for the person who has never worked in healthcare and is looking for a new career skill set. Medical billers and coders (also called health claims specialists) are responsible for processing insurance claims for healthcare facilities and physicians' practices. As a medical billing and coding specialist, you’ll work to bridge the gap between doctors, insurance companies, and patients. This course requires you to have a strong understanding of the English language.

    This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam; this program will not prepare you to sit for the AAPC, CPC, or AHIMA exams. Textbook and NHA exam voucher are included in the tuition.  No other certification exam can be substituted in this program.
Technology Requirement:
  • All students need access to the internet and a computer with a webcam and microphone.
    Chromebooks, iPads, or mobile phones are not supported. 
Included with tuition:
  • Bundled price includes the course, textbook, interactive learning platform, and industry certification exam. No other certification exam can be substituted in this program. Note: The digital learning materials ($90) are assigned to students on or by the first day of class and are non-refundable once assigned.
