FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. Financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. Prerequisite:

Students interested in taking this course must have one of the following:
  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • CompTIA Network+ certification
  • NOVA course ITN 170 with a grade of C or better. Equivalent courses from other accredited institutions of higher education may be substituted. You must provide course descriptions and a transcript with final grades.
Before registration, complete the IT Course Prerequisite Form and upload proof of having completed one of the listed prerequisites. You will be dropped from the course if you register without submitting proof.
 
Course Description:

Learn@Home: Instructor-led, Live via Zoom and CANVAS

The CompTIA® Linux+ certification is the preeminent credential validating skills as a Linux Administrator. Linux has grown into an industry-leading software and service delivery platform that is used for everything from cars and smartphones to servers and supercomputers. As more organizations adopt Linux, the demand for skilled and qualified Linux professionals is on the rise. You will gain hands-on experience configuring, monitoring, and supporting servers running the Linux operating system, all while preparing for the latest certification exam.
 
What is Expected:

Certification prep courses are rigorous and demand significant time and effort. You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, complete all requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam within 60 days from the last class session. Additional study time outside class hours will be expected.

What is Included:

CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Labs, and industry certification exam voucher. Students are assigned CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Labs ($171) on the first day of class, and they are non-refundable once class begins.

This program cannot be combined with any other discounts/promotions.
 
Credit for Prior Learning allows you to earn credit for college-level knowledge that you have already acquired and accelerates the completion of your educational goals. NOVA accepts select industry credentials for college credit. The CompTIA® Linux+ certification is approved for Credit for Prior Learning for the following classes at NOVA: ITN 170
