This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs.

HVAC technology is becoming an increasingly popular profession with many in-demand jobs waiting to be filled. NOVA Workforce EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Prep provides essential knowledge for developing skills fundamental to working with residential and commercial systems. You will learn the basics of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems, including tools, fasteners, tubing, copper, soldering/brazing, thermodynamic principles, the relationship of temperature and pressure, system components, refrigerants, service procedures (recovery/recycling, evacuation, leak detection, charging), metering devices, basic troubleshooting, controls, and compressors. After completing the course, students will have the opportunity to test and obtain the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification.
Prerequisite: None.
Included with Tuition: The course, textbook, and industry certification exam. No other certification exams can be substituted in this program.
Note: The textbook is assigned to students on or by the first day of class and is
non-refundable once assigned.
What is Expected: You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam.
