This Healthcare Orientation is required for the following NOVA Workforce healthcare programs:
 
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)
  • Nurse Aide Preparation (CNA)
  • Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Follow these steps to complete your orientation and register for your healthcare course:

Step 1: Determine your eligibility.
Applicants must:
  • Be at least 18 years old or obtain approval from the Program Director.
  • Provide two forms of identification.
  • Have a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or college degree.
Applicants with Foreign Diplomas or Transcripts
  • Submit official high school and/or college transcripts with an official English translation.
  • Schedule an advising appointment for English placement if transcripts do not document an equivalent to ENG 111.
Applicants with Foreign Diplomas or Transcripts must also meet English language proficiency requirements through one of the following:
  • Achieve ACLI Level 6 placement scores in both Speaking & Listening and Reading & Writing. Email ACLI@nvcc.edu to schedule a test appointment. OR
  • Achieve College ESL placement scores at Level 4.
If currently enrolled in ACLI or ESL coursework, applicants must successfully complete:
  • All ACLI Level 5 courses, OR
  • All College ESL 3 courses prior to admission consideration.
Step 2: Register for this orientation class (add to cart and check out) - it's free! You will receive a confirmation email with information on how to log in to the orientation course in Canvas.
 
Step 3: Complete all orientation tasks in Canvas for the healthcare course you want to take. Use the link from your confirmation email to access the orientation course with your myNOVA credentials. How to access myNOVA

Step 4: Register for your healthcare course. After you have completed the orientation and submitted all required documents, you will be contacted by a staff member with instructions on how to register and pay for your class. Several funding sources are available to assist you with the cost of tuition. Complete this short survey to see if you qualify for funding.
