TESOL 1-1: Introduction to TESOL

Introduction to TESOL provides an overview of second language acquisition theory and current English language teaching strategies used in adult ESL education. In this first workshop, you will learn about the TESOL Certificate Program, including team teaching and observations, and the two capstone assignments – Practicum 2 and TESOL Portfolio.
Prerequisites: At least 18 years of age and proof of English proficiency level via one of the following before attending the first workshop:
  • A US college diploma including successful completion of ENG 111
  • The Virginia Placement Test (VPT) for native English speakers
  • The Accuplacer Test for non-native English speakers.

You must attend 90% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor, in order to pass the class and be awarded CEUs.
