Program Description:

The Registered Behavior TechnicianTM (RBT®) is a paraprofessional who is on the frontline of delivering services under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBA® or BCaBA®.
The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services. The RBT does not design intervention or assessment plans. It is the responsibility of the RBT supervisor to determine which tasks an RBT may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence. The BACB® certificant supervising the RBT is responsible for the work performed by the RBT on the cases they are overseeing.  A Registered Behavior TechnicianTM (RBT®) is expected to understand and implement individual treatment plans, record patient behavior and provide a safe, supportive environment for the clients.
This course teaches evidence-based behavior intervention techniques and strategies for individuals including but not limited to: data measurement, assessment, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, documentation and reporting, professional conduct and scope of practice. The training will cover all of the tasks and subtasks in the RBT® task list and the ethics requirements that have been designated as being relevant for behavior technicians. This training course is based on the Registered Behavior Technician Task List and designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT® credential. The program is offered independent of the BACB®.

Following completion of the 40-hour class component of the course, students will be placed in a local Behavioral Health facility to complete a hands-on practicum.  Students will be assigned work under the supervision of a BCBA® in direct client interaction in order to complete the required Registered Behavior Technician® Competency Assessment. Once your competencies are completed and signed off, students will receive a course certificate of completion and eligibility to sit for the BACB® RBT®  exam.
