Nurse Aide (NA) Instructor Training

12-hour asynchronous training program that prepares nurses eligible by Virginia Board of Nursing (VBON) requirements to teach Nurse Aide (NA) programs.

Who is eligible:
  • Registered Nurses (RNs) with at least 2 years experience in the last 5 years and 1 year of geriatric long-term care direct care experience as an RN.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with at least 2 years experience in delivery of direct care to geriatric clients in the long-term care environment as a nurse.
Program description and Certification info:
12 Hours of coursework in:
  • Basic principles of adult learning;
  • Teaching methods and tools for adult learners;
  • Evaluation strategies and measurement tools for assessing student learning outcomes;
  • Review of current regulations for nurse aide education programs;
  • Review of the board-approved nurse aide curriculum content; and
  • Review of the skills evaluated on the board-approved nurse aide certification examination
 
This class will be held asynchronously, online with Instructional support via Zoom as needed. 

A certificate of completion will be provided to meet the requirements of the VBON NA Trainer training for approval to teach in a VBON-accredited NA program.

Please read:  Learn@Home: Online, on your own time - This class is 100% online. Reliable internet access and a computer are required. This class will be held asynchronously, online with Instructional support via Zoom as needed, and is open for rolling admission from January 1 - May 1, 2024.
