The Virginia Board of Nursing-approved Practical Nurse Education program is a 1,313 hours, 13-month, full-time education program offered through NOVA Workforce. This innovative program is designed for current Virginia CNAs to continue their healthcare training through intensive credential stacking and rigorous Practical Nurse education to open employment opportunities in the high-demand healthcare field. The Practical Nurse program will require a high time commitment with various days, times, and occasional weekend clinical shift schedules. Candidates will need to have an open and flexible schedule and reliable transportation. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. For more information, visit

General Mandatory Requirements:
Be 18 years of age or older
Submit a Completed High School transcript or Completed GED Diploma or transcript. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
If your degree is from outside of the United States, you must first get your international transcript evaluated through an international evaluation agency:
For College diploma evaluation, use WES - World Education Services
For High School evaluation, use IERF | International Education Research Foundation
Hold a current unrestricted Virginia CNA License
Successfully complete 4 sections of the ATI-TEAS Version 7 Nursing tests(R): Reading, Math, Science, and English. Scores must be proficient or higher; developmental and basic scores will not be accepted.
Submit a clean Criminal Background Check / Drug Screen / Immunizations / History & Physical.
Submit a current resume.
Submit any current and active certifications you may hold, such as BLS/CPR, CCMA, Registered Medication Aide, Phlebotomy Tech, etc.
All submissions will be made using the Canvas application portal.
The application window for the next cohort is now open until November 8, 2024. Classes will start in January 2025.

Step 3: Complete all tasks in the Canvas application portal.
Use the link from your confirmation email to access the application portal with your
myNOVA
credentials.
How to access myNOVA
Step 4: Wait for your acceptance letter and get ready to register.
Acceptance letters will be emailed to students after the application window has closed (see application portal for dates). Once accepted into the program, students can apply for financial assistance and a payment plan.
