This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs. Students interested in taking this course must have one of the following:

• Northstar Basic Computer Skills and Internet Basics assessments - You must score 80% or higher on both assessments. These assessments are free. Watch this short video on how to take the assessments and save a PDF of your score report. 
• Certiport IC3 Digital Literacy certification 

Before registration, complete the IT Course Prerequisite Form and upload proof of having completed one of the listed prerequisites. You will be dropped from the course if you register without submitting proof.

Are you interested in gaining insights into how AI solutions are developed and maintained?  The Certiport IT Specialist: Artificial Intelligence is an industry-recognized certification that equips students with foundational knowledge and practical skills to develop, deploy, and maintain AI solutions. You will learn how to define AI problems, collect, and process data, choose the right algorithms, and train models. The course also covers critical areas in AI development, such as ensuring AI security, transparency, ethical usage, working with basic Hugging Face models, handling biased & unbiased data, and prompt engineering. You will gain exposure to AI module creation, model evaluation, and integration into real-world applications, with an emphasis on continuous improvement. This certification is designed for IT specialists and professionals new to AI, covering its development lifecycle and key skills like prompt engineering and technical, ethical, and business considerations while preparing for the Certiport IT Specialist: Artificial Intelligence Certification exam.
 
Certification prep courses are rigorous and demand significant time and effort. You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, complete all requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam within 30 days from the last class session. Additional study time outside class hours will be expected.
