Learn@Home: Online, on your own time
This online, self-paced program, developed by Google, is designed to help individuals with no previous experience find their first job in the field of cybersecurity. After completing the Google Career Certificate program, graduates will be prepared to explore job titles like cybersecurity analyst, SOC (security operations center) analyst, and more.
The innovative curriculum will include an introductory first course; six courses that progressively build learners’ working knowledge of networks, security models, and tools used to assess and address threats, risks, and vulnerabilities; and one final course focused on escalation to stakeholders and decision making, as well as preparing to establish a career in the security field. Learners complete hands-on activities that allow them to demonstrate key understandings and skills and produce artifacts to show potential employers.
You’ll learn about the following:
- Programming for cybersecurity tasks
- Frameworks and controls that inform security operations
- Using security information and event management (SIEM) tools for cybersecurity
- Detecting and responding to incidents using an intrusion detection system
- Performing packet capture and analysis
All eight courses are included in the program. The program is designed to be completed within six months, working 10 - 15 hours per week. You may complete the program in less than 6 months. However, you may not go beyond six months.
You must be 18 years old or older to enroll in this class.
