This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Admission Requirements:
  • Students must have a high school diploma, GED, or college degree.  Foreign diplomas need to have an official translation.
  • Students must complete the Healthcare Orientation prior to registering for this class.
 
Program Description:
  • Medical assistants play an important role in supporting healthcare providers and other vital medical staff. With the recent changes in health care, the need for medical assistants is at an all-time high. NOVA Workforce is addressing this need by offering our blended learning certified clinical medical assistant course. Upon successfully completing this credential-to-career course, you will sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) examination, which will be given on the last day of class. The exam fee, digital books, and BLS are covered by tuition.
     
What is Blended Learning?
  • Blended learning is a combination of online and on-campus face-to-face coursework.
  • Online will be a series of mandatory live lectures. There will also be online course work that can be done at your convenience, but there will be due dates.
  • On-campus will be a mandatory, in-person attendance skills lab. You will have hands-on experiential learning, performing duties such as vital signs, exam room preparation, patient data collection, simple dressing changes, lab tests, phlebotomy, medication administration, and EKGs.
  • This course is 140 hours of work.
Technology Requirement:
  • All students need access to the internet and a computer with a webcam and microphone.
    Chromebooks, iPads, or mobile phones are not supported.
Included with tuition:
  • Bundled price includes an online learning platform, BLS, and National Exam Fee; these items (total cost of $598) are not refundable once assigned.
