This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs.   • Regular/Full Price: $2,697

Instructional Mode: Learn@Home and On Campus (Hybrid – Instructor-led)
 
Admission and Technology Requirements:
  • Students must complete the Healthcare Orientation prior to registering for this class.
  • Students must complete Viewpoint Compliance Health Portal prior to the start of class. (More information is found in the Healthcare Orientation).
  • Students must be 18 years of age.
  • Students must have a current, unrestricted Virginia CNA certificate.
  • Current Immunization record (to include: DTaP, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Flu) and PPD or Chest Xray (proof of negative TB) less than 8 months old at the time of class start (submitted through Viewpoint).
  • Technology Requirements: Laptop or computer with camera and microphone, reliable internet access, Microsoft Office software and media player software.
 
Program Description:
  • Registered Medication Aides play a vital role in the healthcare team and are in high demand in our community. This 72-hour, state-approved, noncredit program prepares you with the skills and knowledge to take the examination to become a Registered Medication Aide (RMA) in Virginia. Upon completing this program and certification by the Virginia Board of Nursing, you will be eligible to work as an entry-level medication aide in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF).
Clinical Information:
  • There are 20 hours of clinical rotation at a local assisted living facility. Hours are typically 6 am - 1:15 pm or 4 pm-9:30 pm. All students must provide their own transportation, and 100% attendance is mandatory. Clinical hours and site will be announced in class. Be advised: Clinical dates, times, and locations are subject to change related to situations we cannot control. Any changes will be communicated as soon as available to all registered students.
Attendance Requirement:
  • 100% attendance is required in addition to any requirements set by the instructor to complete the class successfully. 
Included with tuition:
  • All required learning materials. Note: The textbook will be provided to students on or by the first day of class and is non-refundable.
Not Included with tuition:
  • Tuition does not include Examination fees ($120), scrubs, immunizations, a watch with a second hand, criminal background check & drug screening through Viewpoint testing ($75 fee for Viewpoint Compliance). No other certification exam can be substituted in this program.
