Prerequisite:

Students interested in taking this course must have one of the following:
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • CompTIA PenTest+ certification
  • CompTIA CASP+ certification
  • EC-Council CEH certification
  • Google Cybersecurity Certificate or
  • NOVA course ITN 262 with a grade of C or better. Equivalent courses from other accredited institutions of higher education may be substituted. You must provide course descriptions and a transcript with final grades.
Before registration, complete the IT Course Prerequisite Form and upload proof of having completed one of the listed prerequisites. You will be dropped from the course if you register without submitting proof.
 
Course Description:

Learn@Home: Instructor-led, Live via Zoom and CANVAS

CompTIA® Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is a vendor-neutral cybersecurity certification that applies behavioral analytics to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks to your organization with the objective of securing and protecting your applications and systems. You’ll learn how to use behavioral analytics to identify and combat malware and advanced persistent threats (APTs) in a cybersecurity environment. You’ll also gain an understanding of work roles such as Systems Security Analyst, Threat Analyst, and Vulnerability Assessment Analyst. All while preparing for the CompTIA® CySA+ certification.  
 
What is Expected:

Certification prep courses are rigorous and demand significant time and effort. You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, complete all requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam within 60 days from the last class session. Additional study time outside class hours will be expected. 
 
What is Included:

CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Labs, and industry certification exam voucher. Students are assigned CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Labs ($178) on the first day of class, and they are non-refundable once class begins.

 
Credit for Prior Learning allows you to earn credit for college-level knowledge that you have already acquired and accelerates the completion of your educational goals. NOVA accepts select industry credentials for college credit. The CompTIA® CySA+ certification is approved for Credit for Prior Learning for the following classes at NOVA: ITN 262
