Sitting for the industry certification exam is an expectation for FastForward programs. Therefore, you must meet SHRM eligibility criteria for the exam

Note: Candidates for the SHRM-CP certification are not required to hold an HR title and do not need a degree or previous HR experience to apply; however, a basic working knowledge of HR practices and principles or a degree from an aligned program are recommended.

The SHRM Certification Exam Prep is an instructor-led, interactive, comprehensive, and effective course. Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the curriculum is designed by global subject matter experts and covers the entire SHRM BASK. The course features a personalized path toward success with access to assessments, practice questions, learning modules, quick-start videos, study flashcards, post-tests, and an online resource center. This course includes 36 hours of instruction, the SHRM Certification Prep System (print and online materials), and the SHRM Exam Fee.
What is Expected:
- You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor.
- You must complete the SHRM Certification Prep System pre-tests and quizzes to determine exam readiness. Students should anticipate spending an additional 36 hours of study time outside of class.
- Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application in order to be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam. SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exam eligibility requirements can be found at: https://www.shrm.org/credentials/certification/eligibility-criteria.
- You must apply with SHRM by the standard application deadline and sit for the SHRM Exam within the next SHRM Testing Window.
Important: The SHRM application deadline is May 16, 2026. You must apply with SHRM by this date. You are expected to sit for the exam in the 2026 First Test Window: May 1 - July 15, 2026. The included exam voucher is valid only during this testing window.

This is a FastForward Program: FastForward provides short-term training for industry-recognized credentials in high-demand fields. Eligible Virginia residents pay only one-third of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet Virginia domicile requirements (living in Virginia for at least one year with the intent to remain). A domicile form is included in the registration process.
