The Part-Time ESL low beginning level is made up of two courses: Part-Time ESL 1.1 (50 hours) and Part-Time ESL 1.2 (50 hours). Part-Time ESL 1.2 helps you continue to build your English skills for life, school, and work. The course teaches reading, writing, speaking, and listening. You will build upon the basic language skills needed to complete simple classroom, work, and social tasks. Students who complete Part-Time ESL 1.2 can take Part-Time ESL 2.1, Intensive Reading & Writing, Intensive Speaking & Listening, or Support ESL.

Prerequisites: Completion of Part-Time Low Beginning (1) Level or ACLI placement test results. Lowest skill determines placement. To be successful in their ESL class, students must be able to use NOVA’s digital technology (email, Zoom, CANVAS).
