This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs. Admission and Technology Requirements:
  • Students must complete the Healthcare Orientation prior to registering for this class.
  • Students must have a GED, U.S. high school diploma, or college degree.
    • Students who have completed their education outside of the U.S. must have placed into ACLI Level 5/College ESL Level 3 or above.
    • Students should contact the ACLI advising team at AN-ACLI@nvcc.edu to determine if they meet the eligibility requirement.
  • Current Immunization record (to include: DTaP, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and booster, and Flu) and PPD or Chest Xray (proof of negative TB ) less than 9 months old at the time of class start.
  • Technology Requirements: Laptop or computer with camera and microphone, reliable internet access, Microsoft Office software and media player software.
 
Program Description:
  • Our 150-hour, state-approved, noncredit program prepares you to work under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, or physician as an entry-level nurse aide in a variety of inpatient and outpatient care settings such as long-term care facilities, physician offices, clinics and home settings. Nurse Aides play a vital role in the healthcare team and are in critical shortage in our community. 
Clinical Information:
  • There are 44 Hours of a clinical rotation at a local skilled nursing facility.  Hours are typically 6:45 am - 5:30 pm or 4:00 pm - 9:30 pm. All students must provide their own transportation and 100% attendance is mandatory. Clinical hours and site will be announced in class. Be advised: Clinical dates and times are subject to change related to situations we cannot control (such as COVID outbreaks). Any changes will be communicated as soon as available to all registered students.  Clinicals will be held at an area Clinical Facility within 30 miles of campus.
Attendance Requirement:
  • 100% attendance is required in addition to any requirements set by the instructor to complete the class successfully.

Included with tuition:
  • All digital books, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, gait belt, BLS for Healthcare certification, and state exam fee. No other certification exam can be substituted in this program. Note: The class materials ($450) are assigned to students on or by the first day of class and are non-refundable once assigned.
Not Included with tuition:
  • Tuition does not include scrubs, immunizations, watch with a second hand, criminal background check & drug screening through Viewpoint testing ($75 fee for Viewpoint).
