This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Admission Requirements:
  • Students must have a high school diploma, GED, or college degree.  Foreign diplomas need to have an official translation.
  • Students must complete the Healthcare Orientation prior to registering for this class.
 
Program Description:
  • This comprehensive and fast-paced entry-level program is intended for the person who has never worked in healthcare and is looking for a new career skill set. Medical billers and coders (also called health claims specialists) are responsible for processing insurance claims for healthcare facilities and physicians' practices. As a medical billing and coding specialist, you’ll work to bridge the gap between doctors, insurance companies, and patients. This course requires you to have a strong understanding of the English language.

    This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam; this program will not prepare you to sit for the AAPC, CPC, or AHIMA exams. The NHA exam voucher, coding manuals, and online coursework are included in the tuition. No other certification exam can be substituted in this program.
Technology Requirement:
  • All students need access to the internet and a computer with a webcam and microphone.
    Chromebooks, iPads, or mobile phones are not supported.

  • Bundled price includes coding manuals, online coursework, and NHA exam voucher. No other certification exam can be substituted in this program. Note: The materials are assigned to students on or by the first day of class and are non-refundable once assigned.
