This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs. Students interested in taking this course must have one of the following:

• CompTIA Network+ certification
• CISCO CCNA certification
• EC-Council CND or CEH certification
• Google IT Support Professional Certificate
• Google Cybersecurity Certificate or
• NOVA course ITN 260 with a grade of C or better. Equivalent courses from other accredited institutions of higher education may be substituted. You must provide course descriptions and a transcript with final grades.

Before registration, complete the IT Course Prerequisite Form and upload proof of having completed one of the listed prerequisites. You will be dropped from the course if you register without submitting proof.
 
Learn@Home: Instructor-led, Live via Zoom and CANVAS

CompTIA® Security+ is a vendor-neutral certification that validates the competency of security professionals working in the IT industry. The Security+ certification confirms a technician's critical knowledge of communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, operational security, and general security concepts. This class is based on the latest exam. 
 
Certification prep courses are rigorous and demand significant time and effort. You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, complete all requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam within 60 days from the last class session. Additional study time outside class hours will be expected.

CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Labs, and industry certification exam voucher. Students are assigned CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Labs ($178) on the first day of class, and they are non-refundable once class begins.

Credit for Prior Learning allows you to earn credit for college-level knowledge that you have already acquired and accelerates the completion of your educational goals. NOVA accepts select industry credentials for college credit. The CompTIA® Security+ certification is approved for Credit for Prior Learning for the following classes at NOVA: ITN 260
