This is a FastForward Program: FastForward programs are short-term training courses for industry credentials in high-demand jobs. Eligible Virginia residents may pay only one-third (1/3) of the full tuition cost. To qualify, you must meet the Virginia domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia and intended to stay here indefinitely for at least one year before the date of application. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. Additional financial assistance is available to offset some or all of the FastForward tuition costs.

The first 4 class sessions are Hyflex* (4/2-4/11). Students can choose to attend class in person at the campus or remotely via Zoom for these days. The remainder of the class will be taught online via Zoom.
*Hyflex (Hybrid-Flexible) gives students the option of attending sessions in the classroom, participating remotely (via Zoom), or both. Students can change their mode of attendance weekly or by topic, according to need or preference.
Course Description: Looking to master Python programming fundamentals? The Pearson IT Specialist: Python certification provides an immersive learning experience that will equip you with the skills you need to succeed. Python is a versatile and powerful object-oriented programming language that is easy to learn yet capable of handling complex tasks. Through hands-on learning, you will actively develop your skills in data types and operators, flow control with decisions and loops, input and output operations, code documentation and structure, as well as troubleshooting and error handling. Additionally, you will gain experience in performing basic file system and command-line operations using built-in modules. By the end of the course, you will be able to write syntactically correct Python code that effectively solves various problems. This course is ideal for students interested in pursuing careers in software development, data science, or any field that requires programming skills. Upon completion, students will have a solid understanding of Python programming and will be well-equipped to tackle more advanced topics in programming, data analytics, and data science while preparing for the Pearson VUE IT Specialist – Python certification.
Suggested prerequisites: Working knowledge of personal computers, novice programming experience.

What is Expected: You must attend 70% of all scheduled class hours, in addition to completing any other requirements set by the instructor, and sit for the Industry Credential exam.
